Tree Photography Site

Connections in Kindness is a collaborative tree photography site. We are asking people in our community to photograph favourite trees and to share their pictures and reflections with us.

A, aged 5 shares, "I love this tree because it reminds me of the trees I play hide and seek in beside my house. Trees are kind because they give you air and because they give homes for animals!"

E, aged 5 shares, This "tree will make you feel comfort under its branches and then they'll be happy. I like this tree because it's nice (it will) keep you warm." T, aged 6 (and his dad) share, "I like this tree because it reminds me of a big Christmas tree. It looks strong because the bottom part of the tree is very thick with several segments that come together to form the trunk. It also has two lower branches that look like arms. It is very bushy, but the leaves/needles are very scaly."

What attracted me to this tree was the way neighbouring vines connect to it and use it as a ladder.

T, aged 5 shares, "I really like the yellow leaves."

Twins living amongst a family of Garry Oak Trees.

This beautiful, graceful deodar cedar has wonderfully soft-looking needles.

I see the letter "Y" in this tree in many ways!

N, aged 6 shares, "I really like the moss and all of the details that you can see when you look close up."

It feels like this magnificent arbutus is being protected by the Oak trees that surround it.

J, aged 5 shares, "I really like the colours around the sun in this photo."

A beautiful example of a nurse log. A dead tree showing kindness by supporting new life!

This dead tree provides interest and beauty to this path. In its death, it has given life to other trees, animals, and insects.

A, aged 5 shares, "I really like these kinds of trees. I like the branches."

There is magic in the trees!

V, aged 5 shares, "I really like the light in this picture!"

This tree is offering a home to some licorice ferns! How kind!

These two Dougla fir trees remind me of twins...growing up together and supporting one another through thick and thin (just like my sister and I!)

L, aged 8 shares "I feel this is a special spot on open land near a pond in the sun. The tree is beautiful because of its branches that stretch out. I like Arbutus trees because they are cool looking."

Evening Glow...

Magestic!

A welcoming sight!

E, aged 6 said this tree gave her a sense of wonder because of the view of the city, and a sense of fun because she was able to climb on the rocks! It is definitely not the biggest tree but it is quite interesting how this small Garry Oak was still able to grow in a very difficult environment, on top of a rock.

J, aged 5 shares, "This tall tree has pinecones underneath it. It has two large lower branches that look like the letter u."
